Mirena mummies

Post by kandis on Wed 11 Jun 2014 - 2:29

Hi guys,
Just a few quick questions for those of you with the mirena
-how long was your spotting after placement
-any side effects
-how long did it take for AF to slow down after placement

Thanks  Smile

Spotting lasted a solid 3-4 weeks after it was inserted (if I remember correctly), random spotting for 2-3 days on and off for the first 3 months after (apparently normal up until 6 months)
From there AF started to slow down in the sense that I have 1 single random spot day at a random time (don't even know if it's once a month or every second month to be honest) as it's so little I don't notice it.
For all technical purposes, I have no AF. It's been in for 2.5 years now.

Thanks thanks monzie, I had to have one inserted because of health issues, had it on Monday (all I can say is ow!! When they clamped my cervix)
And today the spotting has basically gone already?? The nurse said I would probably have heavy bleeding for a few days and my next period might also be a lot heavier, but yeah spotting has pretty much been non existant today, was wondering if it's normal
Oh and I've had major headaches the last 2 days and just period type cramps

I remember skipping a day or so of spotting, but for the majority it was constant for almost 3 weeks + after (I think)

Hello Kandis.... I spotted for LONG - like to be honest I think 6 months of spotting - but its completely over now and I havent seen any spotting or anything since the beginning of this year. I had it put in last year March. I am VERY happy with it. No side effects. But I did bleed for a while in the beginning - but the spotting - just as I thought it was over - it would start all over again.
