To start school or not.....

Post by TarrynT on Fri 13 Dec 2013 - 6:05

Ladies please help me? Rach started school at 6 months and she was fine, she got sick ALOT but I had no choice at that stage. Now with Emma I have an amazing nanny at home so she stays with her but I feel bad that she isnt at school. She will be 1 in Jan and im keen to send her but im just not ready? Feels strange but I want to keep her a baby as long as I can....... and its SO expensive. Crazy crazy with Rach starting big school etc and obviously I would still keep my nanny anyway cos she is such a help with holidays etc.

Any advice?

T, I was in the fortunate position to keep the boys out of creche till they were well over a year old. If you have a wonderful nanny, I'd say keep her home till she is bit older,18 months maybe?

If I could I'd keep her home up till the age of 2 TT.

If I had a choice I would have kept her for another year at home as well.

We have looked at some schools for Abi, as so many have waiting lists and most of them have said to wait until at least 18 months if possible.
Abi will either start end of next year or in 2015.

Keep baby home is my advice and do Clamber Club or Toptots for interactions.

Ok so u dont think they will battle starting school when they fully aware of whats going on? She is SO attached to the nanny, I worry so much about that. Rach was little so had no idea.
Unfortunately I cant do toptots cos I work, it sux :Sad but Emma has cousins etc so she is with other children more than not.

That is the problem how attached they get to the nanny, if you not at home I would then rather send her to school next year. (I really thought you at home Smile )

I will never be sorry for sending my one so early as they are so good with them at school and she loves being there with her friends (they do get attached to one another at the age of one, it amazes me in the mornings when she sees Adam or Morgan, just to cute)

Rather make the brake with the nanny now than in another years time when she is really really attached

Good luck

I would keep her home till at least 18 months

My boys were home with the nanny and very attached but slowly adjusted to school. I found it was only around 18mo they started getting bored at home. and although they liked other babies they only really play with other kids after 2yrs.
