My Slender Wonder Experience

Post by Gabby on Wed 10 Apr 2013 - 9:33

I am really impressed with SW. and so I thought I must write my own thread so that if anyone else needs convincing they have a few of us to refer to.

For those of you that dont know, I wanted to lose 6kgs - weight that I had kept on after having Nicholas. To some people this might not seem like a lot but to me it was a big burden. I had tried to lose it for over three years. I know what I was before I fell pregnant with Nicholas and I just wanted to be there again. So my 6kg might be like somebody else's 20kgs. It is how that extra weight makes you feel.

I had tried the low GI diet I went on after I had Cameron (my first son). Although I was very successful on that one then, it did fokol for me this time. I sat at 73kgs until last year sometime when I finally lost 3.5kgs and got under the 70kg mark for the first time in nearly four years. But it crept back on and after December I was back at 71kgs.

I decided to take action and just go to Slender Wonder cos my friend had done so well on it. I liked the sound of it resetting your metabolism which was clearly my problem. I could gain and lose 2 kgs in four days. Something wasnt lekker. So on 23 Jan I went for a consult and havent looked back.

I lost 7.5kgs in six weeks. I started the stabilisation part of the diet on 19 march. We went away on holiday with friends on the 21st. My mother in law had passed away on the 9th of March which had been very traumatic and stressful. We needed a break and just felt like letting my hair down a bit althugh I was a bit worried I might gain some of the weight back. I tried to stick to stabilisation plan for the most part but it was hard being away with people. For instance I wasnt going to make my own grilled chicken when we were making a flavoured flattie for dinner. So I just had the flattie chicken etc that sort of thing. I also didnt take my scale with to measure food.

So I didnt stress to much. I had wine every evening, milky lane twice and even ate a whole slab of fudge factory fudge after a visit to uShaka.

I was dreading getting on the scale when I got back but hopped on the day after we got back expecting to see a 3 to 5kg gain and guess what - I gained 1kg.

I was thrilled so I really think that it does resent your metabolism and you can eat what you like within reason. Weve got a wedding this weekend and so I wanted to be back at the weight I was before holiday at least. So I stuck to go mod for last week and this week and I have lost the 1kg i gained on holiday plus another 500g.

I just wish I had found SW sooner. Flip when I look at photos of myself from last year and the year before I cringe. The worst thing is that I wasted so much time feeling crap about myself. I felt fat, unhealthy and not sexy. I had no sex drive because I didnt feel attractive.

Now I can fit into my old clothes and I enjoy buying new clothes. I dont mind people taking photos of me, and feeling thinner has had the spin off in that I have taken an interest in myself again. For instance going to the hair dresser, getting my eye brows waxed etc - things that I didnt really care about if they were neglected.

Best of all is that my sex life has improved. Because I feel smaller and more sexy I dont mind being seen and touched and all that. Now I feel like having sex more often. My hubby always buys me lingerie for birthdays and valentines day and I hardly ever try any of it on. Some things I will put on at a push if they hide my thighs or tummy or whatever. Some of the stuff is still in the boxes they came in. Lately I have been taking them down from the top of the cupboard and wearing some of it. It is amazing what a difference feeling healthy and good about yourself can do not only for yourself but your relationship as well.

Now I am keen to do some exercise to firm up and make sure I dont gain the weight I have lost. Exercise is something I had NO inclination of doing before - even though I was paying for Curves every month and never going.

I dont know if the other ladies feel the same. It really has been the best money I have ever spent on myself ever.

Well done Gabby and yes 6kg can be alot if you are used to being a certain weight and you have that to lose, so I know what you mean.

I am so glad that you are feeling better about yourself and even more healthier! In the end that is the most important

Well Done Gabs!!

I let myself go after D was admitted to hospital last year July, I let my weight spiral out of control and I couldn't find it in me to do something about it and then the whole Wihan thing. I was stuck in this dark hole..

and now for the first time in such long time, I have the guts to start again. I considered SW but the closest clinic/dr is in Bloem, so I wont be able to go for regular consults etc, so I decided to go back on my Cohen plan.

Started today, so we'll see how thing go..

TT, SW is exactly the same as the HCG diet, just with some supplements.

I will forever be a SW fan!

Majokweni, I was very strict with myself in the first six weeks. When I "cheated" it was a bite of one of the kid's toasted sarmies or something like that. Never a whole thing. I bite here and there maybe. Then on Cameron's (my son) birthday I had a slice of chocolate cake. I just couldnt resist. Other than that I didnt really cheat for the first six weeks.
