Nappy rash!!

Post by Natasha on Fri 15 Jun 2012 - 13:52

Kayla has had this rash for about 2 weeks now,and nothing seems to help.
I tried fissan, bennets, elizabeth annes bum cream, just plain vaseline,as well as 2 tubes of bephanthem, plus we change her regularly.
Could it maybe be the rice cereal that I give her in the bottle? Though I highly doubt it....
She is using pampers so maybe I must change to cuddlers....
Or maybe she is allergic to something, she is taking Infacare milk.
And because she is fat she is even getting cuts by her thighs and private part.
I also try and put some powder in her nappy.
And also apply vaseline over the bum cream.

Any advice
My next option is the Dr.

Shame poor nunu. Take to the dr. She needs a cream with cortisone in it like viocort or biocort.

We had something similar. And the ONLY thing that helped was viocort mixed with aqueos cream.

There is a cream at Dischem (their brand) called Clotimazole (broad spectrum fungicide. It costs less than R15. After Kaelyn had it a few times, a nursing sister told us to use this on the rash for 3 days and then alternate thereafter every other nappy change with a normal bum cream and keep that up for a week after. Works a treat.

Plus sun on the bum if possible.

And a good probiotic in the milk.

Natasha, I use Medaspoor (it's an ointment for our VJAYJAY). It works everytime, I used it on all 3 kids and Dylan has sensitive skin and no problems. I got this advice 4yrs ago and everytime there is a hint of a possible rash, I apply that. It does magic! All the best.

I was also going to suggest an anti fungal. Cause sometimes it is not a rash but an infection. The boys had it once and the treatment works well

Hi Natasha.
Denqiue also had bad nappy rash when she was a baby.
I made a special cream for her that worked like a bom.
One tube fissan past, 1x egg white and a tube of "vagina"cream (any make). Mix it together and use it.
See what it does. I can tell you it works like a bom.

Thanks ladies actually went to the pharmacy this weekend and they recommended that fungal cream the Bel mentioned with bephanthem.
Let see if that works.
If that doesn't then I will try the other advices.

No wonder her rash is bad with the teething to top it off. Stupid teeth changes the ph in the body for some reason, which makes a rash worse.

That Ashtons and Parsons weirdly enough doesn't help the pain of teething, but helps regulate the ph (I was told) if you try that with the fungal cream!

She sounds adorable!

Yep have been giving her that as well she already has 2 teeth popping up in the bottom, way faster than Kiara with the teeth.
She is really a blessing.

The ONLY thing that worked for Z when she had that very bad nappy rash whilst teething (and trust me, I tried EVERYTHING the pharmacy could prescribe) was that mix of Monz, it worked miracles in less than 3 days
