Agree with BB - I was just about to say the same thing. Why would she want to do a hysterectomy? Did she give a reason? Is she a gynae?

Yes, he's a very good gynae apparently. I'm just going to wait for the results and then talk to the doctor about avoiding a histerektomy. I just spoke to my mother and she said she had the same thing happen to her. They also did a histerektomy on her. Same abnormal cells found.

So will the hysterectomy be done to avoid the abnormal cells from spreading?

I guess so, preventative measures! I just feel relieved about all of this and I'm not going to accept anything until I know what's wrong. Hopefully this is nothing serious.

Anige I had abnormal cells on my cervix in 2005 and they just remove part of your cervix, come to think of it my gynae said technology is so far advanced today that the last resort would be a hysterectomy and they will just keep removing from your cervix if the cells grow back, which most of the time doesn't. I have been cleared for 6 years this already (Always grateful to our Almighty).

Thank you Lameez, that really helps me. I feel better knowing that I might not have to lose my entire uterus. Even if I never have any more children (which I probably won't) I would like to keep my uterus and ovaries!

Angie I hope the test results are good

It just goes to show that you do know your body best. I would say with your families history of breast cancer you should always be vigilant for symptoms of Breast ovarian adn endometrium cancer. But the numbers also show that people without family history are as likely to develop those cancers.

Which may be why your gynea mentioned hystomrecotmy it may be to prevent abnormal endometirum (not cerivcal cells) from becomming cancer. But I would say untill results are back dont stress too much beacuse either way it is still early so you should be fine with treatment.

I hope you dont have to have a hystorectomy(sp).

Thank you so much Kerry, I have a very positive feeling in my heart today. I'm sure that everything will be okay, and know that God is protecting us all. Whatever happens, it will be His Will!
