Post by hotmama on Fri 5 Feb 2010 - 12:28

I have actually been smoking since I was 13, you know stealing mom's and dad's ciggies,
Shew it is hard, I even went to a hypnotist, that just drove me mad, the constant jabbering about not wanting a cigg, I was just thinking through the whole thing, "give me a damn ciggerette"
I then went and bought the e cigg, the problem with that is you never know when you are done smoking :confuzzed I mean you can put the cigg in your pocket if you want and it aint gonna burn you,
I think it just allows you to smoke more..
Enough said, I dont know what i am going to do?
Maybe I will give it a bash, on Monday though :Embarassed :Embarassed

Okay, I'll fess up, as I type this I'm gagging on a fag, but have been seriously considering the end is nigh. So I'll join, and keep you posted when I've been clean more than 3 days.

PS: I've been smoking 14 years this year.

I read the Alan Carr book, didnt do the clinic thing. I stopped after that and it will be my one year anniversary on the 18th of Feb. The thing is, you must WANT to stop, otherwise it wont work!

Post by Lameez on Fri 5 Feb 2010 - 15:38

Eve do you know that I actually stopped smoking before you and then I started again, idiot that I am, but I am really proud of you and everyone else that stopped no matter what the motivation was/is, it is a difficult habit to kick but we can do it, and like Eve said you must want to stop, some of us will want to start and might take your odd puff here and there but the fact that we are taking the first step is great! I am so proud of this sticky, cos there are so many women that are motivated and felt the same way and now we can actually support each other. Here's to the first step to better health!

Congrats to all of you that have taken the step to stop smoking, whether it's been one day or one year already (or more) I hope you will all be able to stop and stay away from the ciggies once you manage to stop.

I don't know what it's like to stop smoking but changing my diet was at times very difficult as I have a really bad sweet tooth but when I see the results of the weight I am loosing I feel good about it.

Re: Ciggie Anon

Post by Bobby on Wed 10 Feb 2010 - 15:17

I've been an ex smoker since Nov last year. My DH thinks its June but I snuck around until Nov, feeling like a naughty child all the time. My DH smoked for about 20 yrs and stopped about 6 yrs ago. I decided t stop when i wanted to have a baby - I went off the pill in June and then did actually stop in nov when i knew i was prg. If your mind is in the right place and its for the right reasons, you can stop without too much pain. I was quite a heavy smoker - with my coffee in the morning, when I was tired, when I was happy, sad, out, at home alone - whenever. Ciggies were my best friend!! I smoked since i was 19. Don't get me wrong that its all plain sailing. I still even now and being 18 weeks prg feel like a cig every now and then. I just ignore it and it does go away. I also made it very difficult for myself to smoke at the end - my Dh didn't know so i had to sneak around and brush my teeth 50 times a day, change clothes etc.

Although this is a bit of a ramble my point is really that you can do it. Its easy to give in after the first hour or day or week but if you keep focused you can do it. I wonder if i'll smoke again ever?? Good luck to all of you.
